"Samsung says the answer is its next-gen version, called Chromebook 2. These new models, in 11.6-inch and 13-inch versions, make some notable tweaks both outside and in. Both versions have a new look, which Samsung describes as, "a durable textured lid and elegant stitched design." That basically means they have a faux leather outer finish (confirming the leaks that appeared in recent days), with a soft-touch feel and "stitches" molded into the outer edge."

"We briefly handled the two flavours of Samsung's Chromebook 2. As a reminder, both come with an octo-core Samsung Exynos processor, possibly the Exynos 5410, which has four Cortex-A15 and four Cortex-A7 subprocessors in the dynamically scaling CPU configuration known as big.LITTLE. The A15 subprocessors are clocked at 1.9GHz on the 11-inch model and at 2.1GHz on the 13-inch one."

"With the newest generation of Chromebooks they've got prepped for the public, Samsung brings on their Galaxy styling to the web-based OS's hardware. With the Samsung Chromebook 2 13.3" model, we're seeing a 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 LED display that's surprisingly bright - and sharp, of course. This machine will be offered in gray and will be appearing in the public in April of 2014."

"The latest entrant to the field is Samsung's Chromebook 2, the company's follow-up to it's popular 2012 Chromebook. With the Chromebook 2, Samsung is attempting to step up it's game with a distinctive design and the option for a large display with better-than-average resolution."

"Chromebooks will never be for everyone, but assuming you're game, the 13-inch Samsung Chromebook 2 is the one we recommend. Its sharp display, stylish design, long battery life and comfortable keyboard make it worth the premium over competing models."

"There are two upsides to the choice, at least. One is that the Chromebook 2 is astonishingly quiet and never gets warm. The other is that the 13-inch model lasted eight hours, one minute on The Verge Battery Test, and in normal use lasted me well over seven. (The smaller did eight hours and 15 minutes.) This is Samsung's bet, that battery life and portability are more important to the average Chromebook buyer than the ability to tap some added reserve of processing power to play From Dust."
